Saviors of Rhillau
To the casual observer, it may seem that the halflings, much like the gnomes, have no true home. This is a fallacy, though. The halflings are a river people, having first appeared and thrived along the banks of the complex river system and marshlands that border the coast of the great sea. Though never building large cities or attempting to expand, their culture and society has its roots deep in the fertile soil of the area. Halflings value the home and family above all else, and by extension, the community as a whole. Though their settlements are small, they are always willing and eager to come to each other’s aid when called for. Thus, halfling settlements tend to be seen as a family of families, and the greater society is easily compared to being a family of settlements.
Despite of their closeness to their greater extended families, however, halflings are possessed of a natural wanderlust that drives them to move often and explore the world around them. Halflings were the first to sail out onto the great sea, and are likely the farthest reaching explorers on Koeh. They get along well with gnomes, in this sense, and much like their fellow small race can be found in nearly any other civilized society…at least temporarily.
